الكتاب محاولة لاستقراء طبيعة هذه العلاقة الخاصة بين أمريكا وإسرائيل من خلال تناول عدد من العناصر الأساسية الضرورية لفهم هذه العلاقة مثل: أهمية إسرائيل بالنسبة للولايات المتحدة طبيعة دور إسرائيل في المنطقة، حقيقة النفوذ الصهيوني داخل أمريكا، كما يتناول الكتاب مراحل تطور هذه العلاقات التي سارت دوما في خط صاعد منذ إدارة ترومان وحتى عهد إدارة بوش، ويطرح الفصل الأخير مسألة على درجة كبيرة من الأهمية من خلال التساؤل : هل بدأت مكانة إسرائيل في التراجع ؟!
