في الحادي والعشرين من يناير/كانون الثاني 1924 توفي قائد الدولة السوفيتية و الأممية الشيوعية بعد مرض طويل، كان عمره عند وفاته 53 سنة، وقد حفلت حياته بسنوات من الهزات والأزمات والتحول، فقد توجت الفترة الممتدة من الربع الأخير في القرن التاسع عشر إلى الربع الأول من القرن العشرين بالحرب العالمية الأولى وبالثورة البولشفية سنة 1917، عرف باسم “لينين”، وهو اسم مستعار اكتسبه من خلال عمله السري، وكان لينين بدون شك أعظم ثوري في عصره، رجل غيرت أعماله مجرى التاريخ في القرن العشرين. إن الآتي ليس سردا تفصيليا لحياة لينين، فمثل هذا المشروع يتطلب مجلدا أو أكثر، فيقدم الفيلسوف الفرنسي هنري لوفيفر عرضا متينا لفكر لينين بصدد نظرية المعرفة في كتابه فكر لينين.
