يبين الكتاب أن طريقة معالجة الدور من ناحية طبيعة الفعل الفيزيولوجية التي اصطلح على تسميتها فيما بعد طريقة الأفعال الفيزيولوجية وحدت تعبيرها النظري للمرة الأولى في خطة إخراج عطيل عام 1929-1930 ففيها يقترح ستانيسلافسكي على الممثل فور استيضاح ظروف الدور الإجابة على سؤال ماذا يمكنه أن يفعل فيزيولوجيا أو كيف يفعل ذلك في الظروف المعطاة وعندما تتحدد تلك الأفعال الفيزيولوجية بصورة واضحة يقوم بتنفيذها.
