Overview
يعتقد أن فن تحريك العرائس هو شكل فني تمتد جذوره إلى الثقافات القديمة منذ أكثر من 3000 سنة، ويزعم أن الدمى كانت تستخدم في فنون المسرح حتى قبل ظهور العناصر البشرية، وربما بدأت أقدم دمى في مصر القديمة، حيث تم اكتشاف دمى متحركة من العاج والصلصال في المقابر، وتم ذكر الدمى في الكتابات القديمة من عام 422 قبل الميلاد، وفي اليونان القديمة أشار كل من أرسطو وأفلاطون إلى تحريك العرائس.
