يدور الكتاب حول عبد الباسط الصوفي الذي يعد من أبرز الشعراء السوريين الشباب في الستينيات من القرن الماضي، فقد كان واحدا من الذين أسهموا في بناء القصيدة الجديدة، وعملوا على تحديث الشعر السوري شكلا ومضمونا، واستطاع على الرغم من معاناته الشخصية أن يقدم لنا صورة من صور الشاعر الملتزم بقضايا الوطن والإنسانية، فقد غنى للأرض وللمرأة وللطبيعة وللكون، وحمل هموم الإنسان المعاصر بروح شفافة نابضة بالحب والإيمان والحزن والقلق والإغتراب.
