يعتبر كتاب (الطيب) من نوادر المخطوطات العربية المكرسة للحديث من أنواع الطيب وصناعته ومفرداته ؛ حيث أكثر هذه الكتب مفقودة، نجد بين طيات بعضها في التراث نثرات هنا وهناك في الكتب الطبية وغيرها. وتعميما للفائدة فقد افتتح الكتاب ببعض ما تناوله العلماء القدامي والأطباء للحديث عن أنواع الطيب وصناعته وفوائده الطبية فضلا عن استخدامه للتطيب.
