هذا الكتاب يتكلم عن تواجد العرب في عمان منذ مالك بن فهم إلى يومنا هذا، مع إعطاء نبذة مختصرة عن أهم الأئمة والسلاطين الذين كان لهم دور بارز في التاريخ العماني. وقد قسم الكاتب فترات الحكم التي تعاقبت على حكم عمان إلى أسر، مع توضيح دور كل أسرة في مجريات الأحداث في عمان والمنطقة. يمر الكاتب أيضا بالحكم العماني في زنجبار مع بيان أصل تواجد العمانيين في زنجبار، ثم فترة حكم البوسعيد منذ انتقال السيد سعيد بن سلطان للإقامة في جزيرة زنجبار، ومن ثم خلفائه ومدة حكم كل سلطان منهم وأهم أعماله والأحداث التي وقعت في عهده، إلى نهاية الحكم العماني عام 1964م، مع تفصيل كيف كان الانقلاب ومسبباته والدور البريطاني في نهاية الحكم العربي العماني في زنجبار.
