هذا الكتاب الذي يصنف ضمن أدب السيرة الذاتية وما يحمله من معلومات واعترافات لا تعد شجاعة بأثر رجعي من المفكر السياسي الدكتور مصطفى الفقي، خاصة أن الفقي يقول دائما إنه ينزعج عندما يجد الأجيال الجديدة الطاهرة الصادقة لا تعلم كثيرا عن كواليس السياسة ودهاليز السلطة في الوقت المعاصر وربما كان ذلك سببا ملحا لسعي الحراني الانتهاء من كتابه هذا، و يشير الكاتب عبر كتابه إلى أن شهادة الدكتور مصطفى الفقي هي قضية موضوعية يجب أن نلح عليها وأن نتقدم نحوها بكل وضوح وأن نتقبلها بكل جرأة حتى لو كان فيها إيذاء لنا، أو إيذاء لبعض أصدقائنا، فالوطن أكبر وأعظم من أي اعتبارات أو أشخاص.
