يعرض هذا الكتاب السيرة الذاتية لواحد من أبرز رواد التحرير والإصلاح في الجزائر في النصف الأول من القرن العشرين كان الإمام عبد الحميد بن باديس (1889 1940) رجل دين ذا فكر إصلاحي تجديدي وصاحب مناهج جديدة للمقاومة والنهضة بالمجتمع ليس في حدود الجزائر وحسب بل كان لأهتماماته النهضوية والسياسية بعد مغاربي وعروبي أيضا فتفاعل مع قضايا الوطن العربي في مغربه ومشرقه ومع أحداثه السياسية والاجتماعية والثقافية وتضامن مع قضاياه الكبرى وعلى رأسها القضية الفلسطينية.
