يعالج الكتاب الأحداث التي جرت في سبتمبر 2012 وأدت إلى حرق السفارة الأمريكية والمدرسة التعاونية الأمريكية من خلال رصد العديد من الروايات والوثائق والعودة إلى الوراء من خلال البحث في علاقة حركة النهضة الحاكمة حينذاك بالتيارات السلفية وعلاقتها بالأجهزة الأمنية والصراعات التي كانت دائرة داخل وزارة الداخلية في أعقاب الثورة وحتى قبلها خلال حكم زين العابدين بن علي كما يسلط الضوء على أسلوب السلطة في معالجة الأزمة والنتائج التي أفرزها الهجوم سياسيا واقتصاديا وخاصة على المستوى الأمني في علاقة بملف تسفير الشباب إلى بؤر التوتر وخاصة إلى سوريا.
