هذا الكتاب به يتحدث بلال فضل الصحفي المصري المشهور في مجموعة مقالات عن السكان الأصليين في مصر ويقصد بهم الفقراء والمنهكين سكان الحواري أو كما يعبر المصريون الغلابة المطحونين ويرى الكاتب أنهم مهمشين ولا نتذكرهم إلا عندما نقول \"سكان العشوائيات\" ويرى الكاتب أن هؤلاء هم السكان الأصليين ويحكي لنا عن أحوالهم وهمومهم وطريقة كثير منا في التعامل معهم باستعلاء وتجاهل وما يميز هذا الكتاب أنه لا يخلو من التهكم والسخرية من الوضع السائد في مصر ولا يخلو كذلك من عبرات الأسى والحزن على حال السكان الأصليين وترى في هذا الأسلوب تلمحيات لاذعة للسلطة الحاكمة في مصر.
