يتناول الكتاب الأسباب التي دفعت ناظم القصيدة المسماة (بالمنفرجة) أو (بالفرج بعد الشدة) إلى نظمها، ودفعت المصنفين بعد ذلك يتناولونها بالمعارضة والتخميس والتسبيع والشرح والتحليل والإعراب وبيان الوجوه البلاغية فيها وإن البصري تناول هذه القصيدة بالشرح وعنون شرحه بشرح السريرة المنزعجة بشرح القصيدة المنفرجة ومن الطريف أنه قام بتدبيج هذا الشرح عندما حصل للمسلمين شدة مهولة سنة (873ه) بسبب ارتفاع الأسعار وقبل ان نعرض تعريف هذا الكتاب وتحليله لابد أن نعرف بناظم القصيدة ثم نعرج على مؤلف هذا الشرح.
