يتناول الكتاب قصة نشأة هجرة-مستوطنة الغطغط، التي تعد الهجرة الثانية في التأسيس بعد الأرطاوية، ضمن مشروع الملك عبد العزيز لتوطين البادية. تكتسب هجرة الغطغط أهميتها كونها شكلت قوة دينية وعسكرية، بعد أن استقرت فيها قبيلة عتيبة وغيرها، في عام 1331هـجري- 1912 ميلادي، لذلك تناولت الباحثة أسباب تأسيس الغطغط وكيفية إدارتها وسكانها ونمط الحياة فيها، اجتماعيا ودينيا ومن ثم الدور لهذه الهجرة في تأسيس المملكة العربية السعودية. عرضت الباحثة لأسباب تراجع دور الغطغط قبل معركة السبلة الشهيرة 1347هجري-1929ميلادي ومن ثم اضمحلالها وهدم جزء كبير من منازل سكانها.
