هذا الكتاب الذي ضاع أصله العربي، وضاع معه اسمه الحقيقي وبقيت منه ترجمة عبرية، يعيد نقله إلى العربية أحمد شحلان وقد عمد الجابري إلى استخراج اسمه الأصلي من متون مقالاته، وإلى ربطه بالصنف الذي ينتمي إليه من بين سائر مؤلفات ابن رشد، هذا الكتاب يتضمن اكتشافا لوجه جديد من وجوه عقلانية ابن رشد وأفقه الإصلاحي، فهو لا يقف فيه عند حدود استخلاص (الأقاويل العلمية الضرورية) في محاورة أفلاطون، بل يضيف إليه ما أطر به تلك الأقاويل من أمور نظرية ومنهجية، وما انفصل به عن أفلاطون وعوضه بآراء وتحليلات تخص التجربة الحضارية العربية بصورة عامة.
