يعد هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا سجلا تاريخيا مهما عن تاريخ الملك «فيصل الأول» الذي حكم العراق في الفترة بين عامي 1921 و1933 م، وهو الابن الثالث ﻟ «حسين بن علي» شريف مكة الذي قاد الثورة العربية الكبرى ضد الدولة العثمانية عام 1916 م وقد عني الأديب والشاعر الكبير «أمين الريحاني» حيث كان شاهد عيان على هذه الحقبة التاريخية بأن يرصد لنا في هذا الكتاب كل ما رآه وسمعه عن نشأة «فيصل الأول»، وتعليمه، وشخصيته، وأن يرسم لنا بأسلوبه الأدبي الرائع كل ما كان يحمله في قلبه من آمال وأحلام ومشاعر، وكذلك سياسته ورحلاته وجهاده لتحقيق الوحدة العربية التي تشمل كل البلدان العربية، ويورد أيضا تفاصيل عن علاقة الملك بكل من بريطانيا وفرنسا.
