تدور المسرحية حول : ترفالدو (Truffaldino) : خادم فقير جائع يتورط في خدمة سيدين في الوقت نفسه دون علم أي منهما، طمعا في زيادة أجره والطعام الذي يحصل عليه، كل سيد لديه خطته، وأسراره، وعلاقاته الرومانسية، ما يوقع ترفالدو في سلسلة من المفارقات الكوميدية والمواقف العبثية التي يحاول الخروج منها بالكذب والتلاعب، المسرحية تعتمد على أسلوب الارتجال والكاريكاتير.
