لأليغوريا هي صورة مجازية تنسج من مادة سردية وتنطوي دائما على معنى ظاهر وآخر خفي فهي من المجاز والسرد إذ يدخل في تكوين الشعر لا يكون قابلا للأنصهار في البنية الشعرية والخضوع لمقتضياتها الجمالية فحسب بل يغدو علاوة على ذلك أسلوبا فنيا ومادة لصناعة الصورة وبعد أن كان الأشتغال بهذه الصورة المجازية مقتصرا على المختصين بالأدب القروسطي بإعتبارها أساس بنيته البلاغية تجدد الأهتمام بها في العقود الثلاثة الأخيرة بالنظر إليها من زاوية أسهامها في تمييز الشعرية الحديثة.
