يعنى هذا الكتاب نظريا بالكشف عن ظاهرة العنف السياسي في الجزائر خلال الفترة الواقعة بين 1962 و 2009 وذلك بالتركيز على أشكال العنف السياسي الأكثر إنتشارا عبر مختلف مراحل تطور تاريخ النظام السياسي الجزائري وتحديد الفترات الزمنية التي تزايدت فيها مع إلقاء الضوء على مختلف القوى والفئات في المجتمع التي مارسته في كل العهود مع ربطه بمتغيرين هما الإعلام المكتوب والنخب الجزائرية على إعتبار النخبة جزءا هاما منها مع التوسع بشكل كبير في المرحلة الأخيرة من العنف السياسي التي انطلقت مع ظهور الأزمة الأمنية في 1992.
