Overview
كانت العلاقة بين الإنسان وبيئته متوازنة لفترة طويلة من الزمن، حين كان حجم الإنسان وقدراته على استغلال موارد البيئة الطبيعية تتوازن مع قدرات بيئته. لكن مع تزايد أعداد السكان وضغطهم على موارد الطبيعة واستهلاكهم المفرط لعناصر البيئة التي يعيشون فيها، اختلت العلاقة بين الإنسان وبيئته، حتى وصلت العلاقة بينهما إلى الخـط الحـرج; فقد أدت المغالاة في عمليات الاستغلال، التي بلغت حد الاستنزاف لموارد البيئة، إلى دمار كبير في المملكتين النباتية والحيوانية وإلى حدوث تغير في النظام المناخي.
