لقد أصبح التدريب في المرحلة المعاصرة ضرورة حياة لأي منظمة من المنظمات طالما أنها تحرص أن تحفظ وجودها في المستقبل، لأنه لا يمكن لها أن تحقق التطور والتوازن في مقومات حركتها مع التطورات المتسارعة حولها، وبخاصة في المجالات التكنولوجية والإدارية والثقافية، إلا إذا أدركت أهمية التدريب ووظيفته الأساسية في ذلك. لذلك، جاء هذا الكتاب ليتناول موضوع التدريب وتنمية الموارد البشرية ستة وحدات أساسية، تعرضت الوحدة الأولى منها لبحث أهمية الموارد البشرية في التنمية الشاملة ودور التربية والتعليم والتدريب في تحقيق التنمية البشرية، وتم تخصيص الوحدة الثانية لبحث \"أساسيات التدريب\"، أما الوحدة الثالثة فقد بحثت موضوع تحديد الإحتياجات التدريبية، وتم تخصيص الوحدة الرابعة لبحث ما تسمى بالأساليب التدريبية، أما الوحدة الخامسة فقد خصصت لبحث فقد تم بحث نظام موضوع المعينات أو المساعدات التدريبية والحقائب التدريبية، وأخيرا التدريب والعملية التدريبية في إطار الوحدة السادسة.
