يتحدث المؤلف في الكتاب عن رحلة مشوقة على الموسيقى في الأديان كل ديانة ومذهب سواء كان سماويا أو أرضيا نجد مخزونا موسيقيا يتخلل طقوس ديانته حتضنت الأديان على أختلافها فنون الموسيقى لتنسج من ألحانها حلة تسبغها على المشاعر وتجتذب بها العواطف وتوقظ بها الأرواح الصافية ويبدو أن تحريم بعض الفقهاء لها ناتج عن خلافهم مع الصوفية ورجالها ولذلك ترى فقهاء الصوفية كالغزالي يحللون الموسيقى والطرب وكان الغزالي يرى أن الجمل يغير خطواته حسب الإيقاع وأن الغزلان يسهل قيادتها بالألحان.
