صاحب هذه الألفية هو \"جمال الدين محمد بن عبد الله بن مالك\" العلامة الأندلسي المالكي حين كان بالمغرب، الشافعي حين انتقل إلى المشرق، النحوي نزيل دمشق وولد بجيان الأندلس سنة (600 ه) وسمع بدمشق من عدة مشايخ، وأخذ العربية عن غير واحد وأخذ القراءات عن أبي العباس أحمد بن نوار، وقرأ كتاب سيبويه على أبي عبد الله بن مالك المرشاني، وصرف همته إلى اتقان لسان العرب حتى بلغ فيه الغاية وأربى على المتقدمين.
