يروي الكتاب عن مرحلة زمنية في المستقبل تمر بتغيرات كثيرة في نهاية الألفيه الثانية ومطلع الألفيه الثالثه حيث يكثر الطغاة في الأرض وتصبح أكثر مأساوية ودمويه تبدأ القصة مع مؤمن الذي يعاني من اكتئاب حاد يقوم أحد أصدقاءه بإخراجه من عزلته الحزينة إلى أحد الرحلات البرية ليلجاء الجميع إلى كهف عند تغير الجو شعر بجسدة يطفو وقابل فتاة وينام حتى يرى رؤية غريبة احبها حينها من أول لقاء ولكن يستيقظ بعدها ويرغب بالعودة إليها بشده أصبحت هاجس له لتتغير حياته من قاتمه إلى سعادة ويصبح العقل مرامه الأول يرغب في فهمه ومعرفة كيفيته حاول أن يفتش عن جواب لسؤاله لماذا أتت ولماذا ذهبت لتمر السنين ويتخصص في طب المخ والأعصاب.
