هذا يبدأ جبران قصصه التي يحاكي فيها الواقع لكن بنظرة الحالم هي حكاية رجل تاه في سكة السفر فأدخلناه منزلنا وصار ضيفنا وحكى لنا الحكايا اللذيذة ثم بعد ذلك قرر الرحيل ليأخذ جزءا منا معه ويبدأ بصياغته على هيئة حروف ومجموعة من القصص القصيرة والعبر المبهرة ينتقد فيها جبران التقاليد الجتماعية ويسخر من تناقض البشر وأزدواجيتهم بعبارات تتسلل إلى الروح وتتربع في القلب في هذا الكتاب المثير للدهشة يلخص جبران نظرته الوجودية ونزعته الصّوفية النابعة من إيمانه بوحدة الوجود.
