أنا أقرر إن كنت سأمرض وأنا أقرر إن كنت سأشفى مهما يكن المرض خطيرا وعضالا ولا شفاء منه .. وصراعي مع المرض أشبه بحرب أهلية .. حين يخرج الإنسان من خوفه نهائيا لاتعود هناك نهايات في نظره، بل لا نهايات تراوح بين الطول والقصر. عندها فقط يتحدث عن الرحيل والوداع وكأنه يتحدث عن نزهة على شاطىء بحيرة .. هكذا تقودنا الرواية وهي تسرد قصة حب نشبت بين شاب وشابة في مركز لمجموعات دعم مصابي السرطان .. يعانيان معا .. يتقاسمان الألم بالتساوي لكن فجأة يولد الأمل الكبير من رحم اليأس القاتل .. يسعيان معا إلى أمنيات رائعة في وقت ليس فيه كثير من الوقت فيدخلان صراعا آخر إنما هذه المرة مع الساعات والثواني .. يفردان شراشف الذكريات لتتعمق صلات أحدهما بالآخر .. ويرسمان غدا مضيئا بمعزل عن طوله أو قصره.
