لقد حكم العرب المسلمون الأندلس ثمانية قرون (96-897 هـ)، وأقاموا حضارة رفدت الإنسانية بكثير من روافد العلم والمعرفة، وقد أسهمت المرأة الأندلسية إلى جانب الرجل في بناء تلك الحضارة، فكان لها حضور في مجالات الحياة المختلفة : السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية والثقافية. ويعتبر هذا الكتاب كدليل عن المرأة الأندلسية، ضمنه المؤلف ما تيسر من تراجم النساء الأندلسيات، وكان منهجه في ذلك تقضي سيرة كل امرأة عاشت في الأندلس أو دخلتها وكان لها أثر فيها، فجاء مرتبا على حروف المعجم، ووسمه ب \"أعلام نساء الأندلس\". وإن في هذا العمل دعوة للمهتمين بالتاريخ الأندلسي إلى دراسة النشاطات المختلفة للمرأة الأندلسية، إذ إن معظم الدراسات كانت تركز على إسهامات المرأة في مجال الأدب، فيما أهملت النشاطات الأخرى السياسية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية.
