قضية حقوق الإنسان، تواكب كل عصر أوانه، لأن الإنسان أسمى مخلوقات الله إذ جعل له حقوقا أقرتها الأديان السماوية والقوانين الوضعية تكريما له. كان هذا الكتاب لتوضيح تلك الحقوق ومعرفة الإنسان لها من خلال الفكر الإنساني والفلسفي ومنه الفلسفة الحديثة التي كانت عنوان هذه الدراسة ولقد كان اختيار الفلاسفة (هوبز ولوك ومونتسكيو وروسو)، الذي وجدت فيهم الكاتبة أنهم الممهدين لوضع اللبنة الأولى لفكرة حقوق الإنسان وأوصلوها إلى مفهومها الحديث مما أدى إلى تمكين المجتمع الدولي بتشكيل أفضل المواثيق الدولية ابتداء بالإعلان الفرنسي لحقوق الإنسان الموطن عام 1780 ميلادي وصولا إلى الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان عام 1948 وتعد الفكرة البارزة في هذه الدراسة استخلاص الأفكار الداعية إلى حقوق الإنسان لدى أولئك الفلاسفة.
