خذت تميل الدراسات الحديثة المعنية بدراسة الإسلام المبكر في مرحلته التكوينية إلى أن مدى الكثير من ظواهر تشكله وملامحه المعتادة تعود إلى أعمق منذ ذلك التاريخ، ربما ترجع إلى قرنين أسبق من إنبلاجه الفعلي في المربع الاول من عند الدويلات أو الممالك والإمارات الصغيرة المتناثرة التي حكمت في شبه الجزيرة العربية القرن السابع الميلادي وتحديدا سواء في شمالها أو جنوبها والتي عرفت بنمط محدد من التكوين الإجتماعي والسياسي والديني، فقد حمل بعضها البوادر الأولى أو المقدمات التمهيدية لصورة الدولة وفكرتها في عصر النبوة.
