كتاب صفة الصفوة تأليف عبد الرحمن بن علي بن محمد بن علي بن الجوزي أبو الفرج، ويبدأ الكتاب بباب في ذكر فضل الأولياء الصالحين، وباب ذكر نبينا محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وذكر نسبه، وذكر المشهورين بالعلم والزهد والتعبد من أصحاب الرسول، ويحدثنا طويلا عن صفاتهم وكيف كانوا من الصفوة. كذلك اهتم المؤلف بذكر المشهورين بالعلم والزهد والتعبد من أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على طبقاتهم، فيسرد لنا الطبقة الأولى ومن فيها وصولا إلى الطبقة الخامسة، وكذلك يذكر لنا المصطفيات من طبقات الصحابيات رضى الله عنه، ويذكر لنا المصطفين من التابعين ومن بعدهم على طبقاتهم في بلدانهم، ويذكر لنا المصطفيات من عابدات المدينة، وذكر المصطفين من طبقات أهل مكة من التابعين ومن بعدهم وغير ذلك حيث يتوسع المؤلف في ذكر كل أهل الصفوة.
