هذا الكتاب هو رسالة لطيفة فريدة من رسائل علوم اللغة الشريفة لأحد علماء الديار المصرية الأجلاء-وهو الشيخ إسماعيل بن غنيم الجوهري -رحمه الله، المتوفى سنة (1165 هجري) والرسالة متخصصة جدا في إحدى جزئيات اللغة-وهي تتعلق بكلمة (أما بعد) في معناها وفيما يؤتى بها-وفي وجه عدم ورودها في القرآن-وأول من نطق بها وفي بيان أنها فصل الخطاب ... إلخ.، مما تجده في ثنايا هذه الرسالة الفريدة وهذه الرسالة رغم صغر حجمها إلا أنها غزيرة الفوائد جليلة المباحث بديعة المباني والمعاني.
