يحتوي هذا الكتاب على أخبار الرحلة التي قام بها عباس حلمي باشا الثاني خديوي مصر إلى الحجاز لآداء فريضة الحج ولما كانت هذه البلاد غير معروفة للناس بالرغم من انها يقصدها سنويا أكثر من مائتي ألف نفس من المسلمين وكل ما كتب عن رحلة الحاج إليها لا يخرج عن بعض المناسك التى يطل المطلع في كثرة شعابها ووعورة طرقها ومجاهلها مما يزيده ارتباكا وجهالة وجاء هذا الكتاب مفسرا لحقيقة الحج مبينا الغرض منه شارحا مناسكه بعبارة هينه لينه سهلة على كل مسترشد وضرورية لكل من قصد سفرا اليه أو معرفة به.
