يتناول الكتاب مفاهيم الأمواج الكهرومغناطيسية منطلقين من معادلات ماكسويل واكتشافات هيرتز مرورا بانتاج الامواج الكهرومغناطيسية وطيفها ومواضيع الضوء التي تم فهما بشكل جيد من خلال الانموذج الموجي وتحدث عن ضوئيات الكم وماهية ضوء الليزر وطرق انبعاثه واستخداماته ومعادلات ماكسويل واكتشافات هيرتز وكيفية إنتاج الأمواج الكهرومغناطيسية ونسلط الضوء على طيف هذه الأشعة ثم نستعرض انعكاس الضوء عند الحد الفاصل بين وسطين والانكسار الذي يحدث عند تقدم الضوء من وسط إلى أخر ثم سنستعمل هذه الافكار لدراسة الانعكاس والانكسار عندما يكون الضوء الصور من خلال المرايا والعدسات.
