هذا الكتاب قد تتبع أصول الفن الإسلامي منذ نشأته في منطقة الشرق الأوسط في القرن السابع الميلادي، وأوضح صلة فنون هذه البلاد بعضها ببعض بعد أن ربط بينها الدين الإسلامي، وكذلك منذ نشأتها حتى القرن التاسع عشر الميلادي. ويشتمل الكتاب على صور ولوحات ملونة كثيرة تصاحب النص المكتوب لتنقل القاريء إلى أماكن هذه الأعمال الفنية، ويقع الكتاب في حوالي (394) صفحة من القطع المتوسط.
