يتناول الكتاب (ديوان أبو العتاهية) والذي قامه بتأليفه (محمد معروف الساعدي) في حوالي (282 صفحة) من القطع المتوسط موضوع (الأدب العربي في العصر العباسي الأول) وهو مؤلف مخصص والكتاب الذي بين يدينا يسعى لجمع مختلف ما نظم أبي العتاهية من الشعر، حيث يقدم ديوانه كاملا مرتبا وفقا لحروف المعجم العربي، وذلك بعد اعتناء المحقق \"محمد معروف الساعدي\" بضبط نص الديوان ضبطا كاملا، وبذكر البحر الذي نظمت عليه كل قصيدة، كما واهتم بشرح بعض المفردات الغريبة وبالتقديم للديوان بترجمة مختصرة لأبي العتاهية.
