يهدف هذا الكتاب إلى التعريف بأعلام الفلاسفة العرب وتصحيح الفهم الخاطئ الذي لدى الناس عن الفلسفة وموضوعاتها حيث اعتبروها مرادفا للكلام الغامض والأقاويل المبهمة على الرغم من كونها دعامة قوية للتفكير ومقوم هام من مقومات الثقافة، ويبدأ الكتاب بالتعريف بفيلسوف العرب والمسلمين «الكندي» وهو أول من ترجم ونقل العلوم الفلسفية من اليونانية إلى العربية، كما كان له إنتاجه الفكري والفلسفي الخاص الذي استقاه من اطلاعاته الموسعة في شتى علوم عصره. كذلك نتعرف سريعا على الفيلسوف الكبير «الفارابي»، والشاعر الحكيم «المتنبي» الذي نطقت أبياته بأفكاره الفلسفية، وبطليموس العرب الفيزيائي الكبير «ابن الهيثم» كذلك يتحدث الكتاب عن شيخ الإسلام (ابن تيمية) الذي رد على أقوال الفلاسفة والمشتغلين بالمنطق والقائلين بوحدة الوجود.
