يقول حميد عبد القادر في كتابه الموسوم بالرواية مملكة هذا العصر في الصفحة 134 : \"الرواية جنس أدبي مسكون بالألم، يعكس أوضاع تراجيدية، يذهب إليها المبدع، المهووس بحياة لائقة للبشر\". استرعت انتباهي هذه الجملة الملفتة لأنها تكاد تلخص فحوى الكتاب بصفة عامة، ولو أن فكرة تلخيصه تكاد تكون شبه مستحيلة وصعبة جدا، نظرا لكون كاتبه ليس شخصا عاديا وإنما كاتبا موسوعيا بكل ما تحمله الكلمة من معنى، بالرغم أنني أعد نفسي قارئة، إلا أنني في هذا الكتاب اكتشفت عكس ذلك لأنني قرأت ما كتبه عن كتب لم يسبق لي الإطلاع عليها.
