كتاب الغلاف الحيوي الحياتي هو أحد أغلفة الأرض ويوضح التفاعل بين الغلاف الصخري والجوي فهو يهتم بالظاهرات الحية لسطح الأرض مثل النباتات والحيوانات ولا يدخل الإنسان فيه كونه عامل مؤثر بشكل كبير على الغلاف الحيوي ونشاطاته المختلفة سواء كان تأثيرا سلبيا أو إيجابيا فقد فقدت الأحياء بسبب الإنسان الكثير من مناطقها وتقلصت مساحتها الفعلية كما تم استبعاد البكتريا لصعوبة حصرها ودراستها.
