يلقي الكتاب الضوء على شخصيات عراقية وطنية وقومية لعبت دورا مهما في الحياة السياسية منذ مطلع القرن الماضي تركت بصمتها الواضحة على أحداث ووقائع شهدها العراق الحديث ومن يطلع على مجريات السيرة الذاتية لهؤلاء الشخصيات التي أشار لها الكتاب لا سيما في العمل السياسي يطّلع بشكل مباشر على تاريخ العراق المعاصر وما شهده خلال النصف الأول من القرن الماضي سواء كان ذلك إنتشار عهد الإستعمار البريطاني المباشر للعراق أو من خلال إتباع سياسة الإنتداب أو فترة ما يسمى بالحكم الوطني الذي تأسس عام (1921) أثناء تنصيب الملك فيصل الأول ملكاً على العراق وقبلها تشكيل أول وزارة عراقية برئاسة عبد الرحمن النقيب نقيب بغداد وما تلاحقه أحداث سياسية مهمة من ثورات وإنتفاضات كانت أبرزها ثورة العشرين التي اندلعت في الفرات الأوسط إضافة إلى أحداث أخرى مهمة في العراق.
