هذا الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا من الكتب النادرة في المادة العلمية، فإنه يبحث في الداء والدواء، من منطلق كتاب الله وسنة رسول الله \"صلى الله علية وسلم\" وبانضمام هذا الكتاب في هذه الطبعة المحققة إلى فن الطب الإسلامي أصبح لدينا تذكرة للشفاء من خلال النورين الكتاب والسنة. وبالمقارنة بين هذا الكتاب وأخيه للإمام ابن القيم نجد الفوارق التالية أن هذا الكتاب يفوق الآخر في عدد الأحاديث النبوية، ولأنه يحوي الكثير من الأخبار عن الحكماء السابقين والصحابة والتابعين يفوق من ناحية العدد كتاب ابن القيم، أن كتاب الإمام الذهبي فيه الكثير من الأبواب التي لا نجدها في الكتاب الآخر.
