الكتاب يترجم فلسفة الحج بلغة أخرى قد يحسبها البعض نوعا من الشطحات باعتبار أن جلال إنما أتى إلى الحج ليتعرف على أخيه المسلم بل الإنسان٬ مما يعني أنه غير مكترث بما يعرفه بالله ويقربه إليه٬ لكن قراءة متأنية ليومياته في رحلته، تدحض هذا التصور حيث يتجلى إيمان آل أحمد وإشراقات روحه وأخلاقيته وعواطفه البريئة ومشاعره الرقيقة إذ يغدو اكتشاف الآخر ووعي آلامه وآماله والتعايش معه وقبوله في كل ما يوجب الخلاف معه، كل ذلك أقرب السبل إلى الله تعالى. ذلك أن طريقه إلى معرفة الله يمر عبر معرفة الإنسان وتبني قضاياه، والدفاع عن حقوقه المهدورة، وحرياته المغدورة.
