يأتي هذا الكتاب لأن مسائل الأسماء والأحكام وقضايا الكفر والإيمان تعد من أعظم أبواب الدين وأشدها أثرا إذ يتعلق بها عدد كبير خطير الأثر من الأحكام الدنيوية والآخروية وقد كانت لهذه القضايا تعلقات ونتائج شكلت معالم أحداث كثيرة في تاريخ المسلمين وواقعهم ولأن قضية التكفير طالتها وعبثت بها أيادي التشدد والتساهل وأنتجت فيها أقوال تتسم بالعجلة في التحرير وضعف الإحكام المنهجي وعدم الانضباط بما تقتضيه نصوص الوحي، بالإضافة إلى غياب وضعف تفعيل المحددات العقدية والقواعد الأصولية المحكمة الضابطة لمسار إنتاج حكم شرعي بهذه الخطورة.
