يتناول الكتاب العلاقات التجارية بين عمان وفرنسا في عهد السلطان سعيد بن سلطان خلال 1806-1856، وتراث الأرشيفات والتعاون الدولي في الأرشيف الوطني (فرنسا) الخبرة والممارسات المشتركة كما يتناول قضايا سياسية في العلاقات العمانية-الفرنسية من خلال الأرشيف الوطني الفرنسي 1844ــ1907 إلى جانب المحاولات الفرنسية لربط علاقات دبلوماسية وتجارية مع عمان في القرنين الثامن عشر والتاسع عشر ونظرة الفرنسيين للحياة الاجتماعية العمانية من خلال الأرشيف الفرنسي إضافة إلى التعاون العسكري الفرنسي-العماني منذ عام 1980 م ويتطرق كذلك إلى العلاقات العمانية الفرنسية من خلال السفينة العمانية الصالحي خلال 1786-1790 إلى جانب مسائل من تاريخ عمان الاقتصادي من خلال مجلة العالم الإسلامي الفرنسية خلال 1906-1926 والعلاقات الاقتصادية العمانية الفرنسية في القرنين الثامن عشر والتاسع عشر.
