يتمحور هذا الكتاب (أزمة العالم الحديث) بفصوله التسعة حول محورين بينهما المؤلف في مقدمته، الأولى : (أن هذه الحضارة التي يتبجح بها المحدثون لا تحتل مكانة مميزة في تاريخ العالم وأنه من الممكن أن تلقى المصير نفسه لحضارات أخرى اختفت عبر أزمنة تتفاوت في قدمها وأن بعضها لم يخلف سوى آثار ضئيلة وبقايا تكاد لا ترى أو لا يمكن التعرف عليها إلا بصعوبة)، الثانية : (أنه ليس من سبب للاكتفاء بأن نتلقى بشكل سلبي الفوضى والظلام الذي يبدو للحظات أنه انتصر) وهذا ما يبينه بالتفصيل في فصول كتابه من قبيل : (العصر المظلم، العلم الدنيوي، الفردية، الفوضى الاجتماعية) وغيرها من المباحث.
