إن هذا الكتاب هو تاريخ حي يشرح-في جانب منه-تلك الخديعة التي وقع حكام هذه الدول-يومذاك-بسبب السذاجة البدوية التي عششت في عقولهم، وخبراتهم، الأمر الذي يمكن القارئ أن يتبين بوضوح دور الحكام (الأبناء) في عملية الحفاظ على هذا المخطط، وعدم استطاعتهم الإفلات منه وإن هارولد ديكسون، وزوجته فيوليت سجلا في هذا الكتاب مواضيع لم يسجلها أي مؤرخ آخر-فالكتاب مضافا إلى أنه في الصميم من أحداث السياسة الساخنة في تلك المنطقة، فإنه في صميم الأحداث التاريخية والاجتماعية أيضا ومهما قيل في الكتاب من ثناء فإنه يبقى المعبر الوحيد عن جدته، وانفراده بحقائق أصبحت تأريخا يضاف إلى تاريخ هذه المنطقة وإن قراءة أحداث هذه المذكرات-بإمعان-سترشد القارئ العربي إلى أمور في غاية الأهمية، ولا شك أنها ستعيد بناء تفكيره العقلي من جديد.
