يتناول كتاب (رحلات في كردفان) والذي قام بتأليفه \"إقناتيوس بالمة\" في حوالي (229) صفحة من القطع المتوسط وصف لمدينة كردفان في السودان، حيث وصفها المؤلف أنها تقع في أقصى مديريات الجنوب التي تقع تحت سلطان حكومة وإلى مصر، فهي تمتد شمالا من الحرازة حتي الكدرو وجنوب جبال النوبة وشرقا من كاكة حتى جبال الشلك لتصل درجة أربعة من خط الطول.
