يناقش كتاب (ابن خلدون: بين نقد الفلسفة والانفتاح على التصوف) لمؤلفه \"محمد أيت حمو\" أن الهجوم الذي شنه ابن خلدون على الفلسفة لا يشمل كل أقسام الفلسفة، بل يتعلق بالقسم الإلهي فقط. وهو يقر بأن العمران يزدهر عندما تنشر العلوم العقلية جملة، التي هي في كنهها فلسفية وكأنه يسلم بالترابط الموجود فيما بينهما ويؤكد الكتاب أن العلوم العقلية مشتركة بين كل الثقافات، باعتبارها صنفا طبيعيا، في مقابل الصنف النقلي الذي يخص كل ثقافة على حدة، حيث الصنف الطبيعي (هي العلوم الحكمية الفلسفية) وقد ارتكز نقد ابن خلدون للفلسفة على مواطن الخلاف بينها وبين الدين ولا سيما في مسألتي، العلم الإلهي ووسيلة إدراكه بالعقل المجرد.
