تناول هذا الكتاب العلاقات الأمريكية اللبنانية حيث تكمن أهمية هذا الكتاب في الاهتمام الذي أولته إدارة الرئيس جورج بوش الابن تجاه لبنان ولا سيما بعد أحداث 11-أيلول-2001، إذ ارتبطت هذه الأهمية بالدلالات التي خلصت إليها إدارة بوش الابن عقب هجمات 11-أيلول من أن لبنان هو واحد من الجبهات الثلاث في الحرب العالمية ضد الإرهاب (إلى جانب العراق وأفغانستان) وأكد أن النزاع في لبنان جزء من صراع أوسع بين الحرية والرعب الأخذ بالظهور في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وبذلك غدت استراتيجية الردع والاحتواء غير ذات جدوى.
