هو محاولة توثيقية لتسجيل أحوال لبنان كما كانت عليه فعلا عام 1991 أي بعد الحرب الأهلية التي استمرت من عام 1975 حتى عام 1990، ففي تلك الفترة بدأ لبنان يتجه نحو مرحلة جديدة في تاريخه السياسي يحاول حسين الهنداوي أن يتتبعها ويسجل مشاهداته وملاحظاته عليها من خلال معايشته لسنوات طويلة في لبنان. فصول الكتاب تتناول موضوعات مثل اتفاقية الطائف وإعادة سلطة الدولة وحكومة الطائف الثانية وإعادة بناء مؤسسات الدولة والتنظيمات شبه العسكرية والأحزاب السياسية وأحوال القضاء اللبناني بعد الحرب والعفو العام عن الجرائم السياسية ؛ إلى جانب عدد من الملاحق الوثائقية وخاتمة بعنوان \"هل كانت الحرب الداخلية اللبنانية حتمية فعلا ؟
