في هذا الكتاب يتناول الكاتب محمد مصطفى عبد الرزاق العمري الفوائد الطبية للنباتات وبعض الأغذية المعروفة بشكل عام في الأردن والوطن العربي مستعرضا الأغذية المهمة وطرق استعمالها مع بيان محتوياتها الكيميائية وطرق الوقاية من الأمراض وفي هذا العمل ابتدأ الكاتب بوضع مقدمة لكل نبات وذكر فصيلته والجزء الطبي المستفاد منه وأهم المواد الفعالة والمحتويات لكل نبات وغذاء مبينا فوائدهما داخليا وخارجيا ومحذرا من تناول بعض الأغذية مثل الصبار لأن لبعض أنواعه أضرارا.
