الكتاب يتحدث عن أن التاريخ يثبت أن كل الحملات العسكرية التي غزت السودان جاءت عن طريق مصر كما يمثل السودان أيضا مجالا حيويا لمصر فقد كان قبل إنفصال الجنوب يشكل أكبر وعاء لمياه النيل في حوض النيل وبوابة مصر إلى القارة الأفريقية مما يستدعي دائما التنسيق الدائم والمتواصل حيث أدراج المسئولين في كلا البلدين دون إعارة أي أنتباه أو أهتمام لها كما غابت مصر أيضا عن قضايا السودان رغم خطورة ما يحدث فيه على منظومة أمنها القومي وأتجه صانع القرار السوداني إلى دوائر أخرى دولية وإقليمية يتباحث فيها بشأن قضاياه الداخلية مما أسهم في تباعد وجهات النظر بين البلدين الشقيقين وغلبت لغة المد والجذر على العلاقات بين البلدين.
